When a child is not growing well or missing important medical care, neglect is often a concern. This workshop will explore the ways a medical provider can work with families and investigators to understand the "why" behind the inadequte care. The ultimate goal is to determine which parent's "can't" do it but can learn to do better with resources and which parents simply "won't" make the changes needed for thier children.
Learning Objectives:
Describe important information is the assessment of an infant's growth and development
Identify areas where community resources might help a family that is impoverished more than neglectful
Develop questions to ask medical providers in order to understand concerns of medical neglect.
