Child Abuse Pediatrician Cook Children's CARE Team
This course aims to provide an overview of diagnosis and management of various sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in cases of child sexual abuse. Additionally, we will discuss which STIs are indicative of child sexual abuse, and which can be contracted in non-sexual manners.
Learning Objectives:
Review the CDC recommendations for STI testing, management and recommendations for prophylaxis in cases of pediatric and adolescent sexual abuse
Discuss the national and local epidemiology of STIs
Compare and contrast symptoms and physical exam findings of different STIs
