Victim Assistance Specialist Gila River Indian Community
The recovery of missing children often requires a collaborative approach among multiple agencies and jurisdictions. In the summer and fall of 2024, the Gila River Indian Community responded to two separate cases of runaway, juvenile females. During this session, participants will learn the investigative methods used to recover the minors- from the initial patrol response to the ultimate return home to Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. This presentation will cover available resources for missing and endangered child/children, including training available from AMBER Alert in Indian Country. This presentation will cover the strengths and challenges of multiple jurisdictions of tribal, state and federal agencies when responding and endangered child/children. Learn how a tribal community adapted their response to meet the needs of their tribal community, including post recovery considerations.
