What does it take to recover trafficked children and successfully prosecute their traffickers? This presentation will address issues and hurdles to child trafficking investigations, as well as the successful methods used by the Dallas Police Department to recover trafficked children and prosecute their traffickers. This is a beginner class for new trafficking detectives/prosecutors and an opportunity for experienced detectives/prosecutors to learn new methods to apply and bring back to their agencies. This presentation will walk through an entire child trafficking investigation, from missing child to prosecution, and consider the profiles of both victims and traffickers. According to the Texas Governor's Child Sex Trafficking Team, the Dallas Police Department successfully recovered more child trafficking victims than any agency in the state in 2024. We are now honored to share what we have learned through successes and errors.
