Director, Babies and Toddlers Task Force
NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner
Leigh Bishop is the Director of the Babies and Toddlers Task Force at the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner. In 2023, she was appointed by the Chief Medical Examiner to develop a first-of-its-kind task force to support public health and safety for babies and their families through investigations, multidisciplinary training and special initiatives.
From 1997-2019, Leigh served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, NY. In 2014, she was appointed to head the first-ever Child Fatality Unit of a district attorney’s office in the US and, in this role, led baby and toddler serious assault/fatality investigations involving the NYPD Homicide Squads and Child Abuse Squads, NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Administration for Children’s Services and major NYC hospital network child protection teams.
