Houston Police Department - Crimes Against Children Unit
Detective Monica Fortson is currently assigned to the Houston Police Department Crimes Against Children Unit, working complex child abuse investigations since 2017. She is the lead instructor for cadet training classes focusing on juveniles, currently instructing Juvenile Investigations, Crimes Against Children, Sexual Assault Investigations and co- instructing Juvenile Law alongside the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Detective Fortson is an Advanced SAFVIC Instructor as well as a SAFVIC Human Trafficking and Strangulation Investigations instructor. She also instructors for the National Criminal Justice Training Center of Fox Valley Technical College in the area of sexual assault investigation. Detective Fortson is an Executive Board Member of the Bay Area Turning Point Shelter.
