Detective Laura Smith has served the city of Indianapolis for 27 years, beginning as a patrol officer on East District. From 2001 to 2015, Laura investigated violent sexual assaults as a detective in the Sex Crimes Unit. In 2015, Laura joined the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The ICAC Task Force is comprised of federal, state and local law enforcement with the goal of investigating those who are engaged in child abuse and exploitation involving the internet. Smith has been named Investigator of the Year for IMPD. In her free time, Laura is a baseball mom who loves to travel to the beach. She loves spending time with her husband, a firefighter on the Indianapolis Fire Department, and her beautiful children.
