Program Manager for MDT Development Southern Regional CAC, National Children's Advocacy Center
Changes to the NCA's Accreditation Standards have highlighted the importance of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) facilitator role, prompting many Child Advocacy Centers (CACs) to reassess their staff and team structures to improve MDT functioning. This session will explore how supervisors can best support the professionals responsible for managing relationships, communication, and accountability within the MDT, regardless of their job title. It will focus on the complexities of the facilitator role and the need for internal support and supervision to ensure facilitators foster an inclusive team environment that improves outcomes for children and families.
A recent national inventory revealed that over 80% of MDT facilitators serve in multiple roles, presenting unique challenges. Facilitators in these roles require targeted support to manage their leadership responsibilities, and supervisors should focus on developing facilitator competencies and identifying professional growth opportunities.
Presenters will provide insight into the key components of the MDT facilitator role and offer guidance on how supervisors can empower facilitators to lead and support their teams effectively, both during and outside of case review meetings.
