This case study outlines the challenges and complexities involving the investigation of sexual abuse within the Mennonite Community. Participants will learn to identify and overcome cultural boundaries when interacting with the Mennonite and Amish population. The offender highlighted in this study received a life sentence after many years of cover up and failure to report.

Learning Objectives:

Overcome barriers to investigations by identifying the benefits of multi-agency coordination during child abuse investigations.
Develop techniques to properly assess and respond to delayed outcries within subgroups of the population known to be shrouded with secrecy.
Identify the importance of case ownership and the role of the investigator from start to finish.
